Colchester's port, industrial and agricultural identity is going fast but the process is leaving a myriad of uncelebrated buildings and hidden spaces off the beaten track, away from the preserved centre.
This blog takes a look around, and calls for the best use of the many sites all over town having topographical or historical value, and which through excellent urban design and architecture can provide the inhabitants of Colchester with attractive, safe and lively new communities.
Most of these sites are gifts from the past and must not be lost to corporate profit, mediocre architecture or bureaucratic indifference.
